Caraffa Bastione has opened its “Venetian gates” and lights up old Nicosia
In 1986, inside the Venetian Walls of Nicosia and in-between the Melina Mercouri Hall and Famagusta Gate, Bastione Piano Bar was opened, a venue that left a distinct and traditional mark on the Nicosia nightlife with gatherings of artists and art-lovers.
With much respect to the tradition of the name, the aura of this much loved space and to the ancient monument that this aqueduct of the Venetian Wall was, it has been refurbished and revamped to a contemporary pulse and a European mood that Nicosia is so capable of exuding.
The new restaurant and bar in the old Nicosia is named after the bastion that hosts it, and so Caraffa Bastione opened its striking arches last week as well as the doors to its Modern Greek cuisine. Renowned Athens chef Vasilis Kallidis creates with fresh and seasonal ingredients to produce Mediterranean dishes bearing his own “stamp” which has established his name in the industry.
Indoor and outdoor bars offer exclusive Caraffa Bastione signature cocktails by top Athens mixologist Christos Houseas.
