Cathedral Church of Our Lady of Graces
This church was devoted to St John. It was then under Turkish occupation and was used as a mosque, so the Maronites built the Church of the Saint Cross which was captured by the Franciscans. The Maronite Community constructed then the Cathedral of Our Lady of Graces, next to the Catholic Church of the Saint Cross.
The church was restored in 1886 by the Vicar Fr. Neemet Allah Sahili, who appointed as parish priest the monk Fr. Joseph Sogbi, succeeded by Fr. Ioannis coming from the Maronite village of Ayia Marina.
In 1888 the Maronite Archbishop Joseph Sogbi appointed as a Vicar General in Cyprus and parish priest for Nicosia Father Ioannis Cirilli, coming from the Maronite village of Kormakitis, who showed great enthusiasm and activity.
The Vicarage and the surrounding buildings were erected in 1960 during the time when Archbishop of the Maronites in Cyprus was Mgr. Elias Farah under the personal care and supervision of the Vicar General Mgr. Ioannis Foradaris, coming from Kormakitis.
