An excellent performance in the 10-km race of the Lemesia 2013 event by Dro.Me.A. Racing runners, both in the men’s and women’s categories. Elpida Christodoulidou (also of GSP) and Kassahun Jebel (also of GSP) won the overall categories in women and men, covering the 10.4-km course in 33’31’’ and 41’42’’, respectively. Jebel took the lead in the race from the beginning until the finish, with another excellent Dro.Me.A. Racing runner, David Branfoot taking 2nd place in 34’42’’. The triad of the club’s top runners was completed by Charalambos Ioannou (also of GSO), who finished 7th overall in a time of 37’50’’.
In the women’s race, Christodoulidou ran with a good tactic and managed to finish in first place with a difference of 33’’ in front of 2nd place winner Yiota Hapoupi. Zarina Mendayeva of Dro.Me.A. Racing also produced a solid performance to finish in 3rd place in 42’34’’. Sarah Clayton, the third elite Dro.Me.A. Racing runner took 5th place in 48’15’’.
In addition to the club’s runners winning a place on the podium, Dro.Me.A. Racing participated with a team totalling more than 60 runners in the 10-km, 3000-m and 1000-m races.
The younger runners of the club gave a positive note to the overall team’s participation and demonstrated that the future star runners are in the making.Noteworthy, were the performances in the 3000 m, by Emilios Ndambouzov, Eleni Sophokleous, Alexandros Matsis, PantelisYiapanis, Giorgos Anastasiand in the 1000 m by Kyriakos Sophokleous, Panayiotis Nikolaides, Nikolas Zambas, Orestis Charalambous, Stella Anastasi, Evelina Anastasi, Demetra Vladimirou, Anna-Maria Vladimirou.
