Holy Monastery of Ayios George at Mavrovouni
The Holy Monastery is in the north of Larnaca at a small distance from it. It is very close to Troulloi village.
A discription of the Monastery is given by russian monk Vasilios Mparski who visited it in December 1735 and says that the church was arrounded by trees and that the inhabitants were silk producers and animal breeders.
There were periods that the Monastery was had to be abandoned by its monks. The Church of Cyprus rended it to a private citizen to a villager from Troulloi village. In the end only two have ruined rooms remainted from the Monastery.
In 1994 the Church authorities of Cyprus decided to revive the Monastery.
Today five monks live in the Monastery.

Facilities: Parking is available. The monastery is accessible for people in wheelchairs. There are restrooms but no for people in wheelchairs. In the Monastery works shop where visitors have the opportunity to purchase various souvenirs such as books, images, crosses, traditional products such as honey, carob syrup, herbal sweets. Transactions with checks and cash. There is a brochure about the history of the monastery with cost 2 euros in Greek, English and Russian languages. The Divine Liturgy begins the morning hours 05:30 to 8:00 and vespers Winter Hours: 16:00 to 17:00 Summer Hours: 17:00 to 18:00. The sacred temple of the monastery is closed 13:00 to 16:00.
