LET TECHNOLOGY RISE YOU UP! Open competition for Museums and Cultural sites
RISE, a Research Centre in Cyprus focusing on Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging technologies announces an open competition for all Cyprus museums and cultural sites interested in incorporating interactive media and emerging technologies in their premises to enhance the visibility of their collections and make visitors’ experience more interactive, educational and enjoyable. The winning proposal will be funded by RISE.
RISE is a joint venture between the three public universities of Cyprus (University of Cyprus, Cyprus University of Technology and Open University of Cyprus), the Municipality of Nicosia, and two renowned international partners, the Max Planck Institute for Informatics (Germany) and University College London (UK) (http://www.rise.org.cy). RISE embraces the motto “Inspired by Humans. Designed for Humans” and its guiding philosophy is to produce technologies to work “in the wild”. In this context, RISE is reaching out to all the museums and heritage sites in Cyprus which are interested in a collaboration aiming to incorporate emerging technologies that would help them meet the needs of the current digital era and become more visible and attractive.
Given the above and having in mind the existing technological facilities in museums abroad, RISE accepts applications from museums interested in proposing an innovative idea aiming to promote, interpret or experience their collections with the use of technology or other innovative uses of technology. Proposals from a team/partnership of museums are encouraged. The submitted ideas should fulfil the following criteria in order to be shortlisted:
- Serve specific and clearly justified needs of the museum
- Include specific interactive/ emerging technologies
- The final product will be displayed at the selected museum for at least two years after the competition of the project
- The museum is willing and able to contribute with expertise and material for the implementation of the project.
More details for the Open Call will be given at a Press Conference, which will take place on Friday, May 24th, 2019, at 11:00, at RISE offices (Julia House, 3 Themistokli Dervi street) in Nicosia. The Press Conference is open to all museum professionals, other interested parties and the Press only.
