In the Museum more than 500 coins are on display presenting the history of Cypriot Coinage from the first coins issued in the kingdom of Salamis at the end of the 6th century BC, to the present day with the introduction of euro in the monetary system of the Republic of Cyprus.
The presentation follows the sequence of nine chronological periods and it is accompanied by the descriptions of the coins, introductory historical texts and pictures.
In the Museum a touch screen presents the interactive multimedia application “From the electrum to the euro. A journey into the history of coins.”
The Museum is the only one of its kind in Cyprus.
