Ecclesiastical Museum of Paphos
The museum exhibits unique collections. Among them, the oldest icon of Cyprus, of Agia Marina in orans position framed with scenes of her martyrdom, the only one dating back to the pre-iconoclastic period, 7th-8th century.
The main collection of icons dates from the 12th to the 19th century.
The museum possesses a remarkable collection of ecclesiastical metallic objects from the 6th century, censer, lamp, candlesticks, mitres, chalices and others unique and extremely important exhibits. A distinguished position among the bishop’s staffs is held by that of the Metropolitan os Ephesos Meletios dating to 1764.
The frescoes housed in the museum are dates in the 11th – 12th century, moved from ruined churches.
In the museum you can also admire a rich collections of wood carvings, iconostase, sanctuary doors, crucifixions and lypitera from 14th century, crosses for benediction and sanctification.
The sacerdotal vestments and ecclesiastical embroidery is particularly noteworthy, with gold vestments of the 18th and 19th century, chasuble, maniples, stoles, cloak, epitaph from 19th century and others.
The collection of manuscripts and old books is very valuable. Among them are the Gospels of 1462 and 1604, Hymnologium of 15th century, Firmany of 1853, music books, codexes of laws.

Facilities: The museum is accessible for wheelchair users. Parking is available. There are toilets and for wheelchair users. There is a museum brochure in Greek, English, Russian, Italian, French, German and is distributed free of charge. There is also a small bookstore where you can buy books and pictures. The oldest picture in Cyprus is displayed in the museum.
