The church of Ayios Vasilios is situated about three kilometres at the west part of the village and is of small dimensions.
It is a wooden roofed single spaced temple of the 16th century with a narthex on the west which manages to salvage many frescos which date around the same time. It has a rectangular shape leading to a half circled arch registered on a straight east wall. On the north of the arch a rectangular cockle opens up while similar smaller rectangular cockles with a straight edged arch also open up towards the eastern section of the north and south wall. At the west a smaller narthex of smaller proportions was built at a later stage. Also, across the north side a tunnel was added as the stones on the base indicate and can be seen till today.
Unfortunately the temple was abandoned for a long time period resulting in the collapse of a section of the roof and west wall and the complete destruction of the narthex. It is worth mentioning that from some of the frescos the eyes of Saints were violently removed probably by a person of different religion passing by during the Turkish occupation period.
Eventually after years of abandonment the temple was repaired by the Archaeological Department in 1966 and regained its original form. The sections of the western wall which were destroyed where rebuilt as well as the arch. Afterwards a small icon screen was constructed in the earlier years on which modern icons where placed after the initiative of Union of the areas migrants.
The wall paintings of the Ayios Vasilios temple are in a very bad condition and as a result a proper study of its technique is not possible. Even so, it can be said that they carry many popular elements such as the short bodies and relatively large heads and are included in the local tradition of the era. They also carry some western influences as do the frescos at the church of the Madonna.
Let it be noted that along the parameter of the bottom part of the frescos there are wall paintings with various shapes and floral decorative. Also on a niche situated above the north entrance in the exterior of the temple there is a fresco of Ayios Vasilios which is heavily destroyed. According to local tradition the Saint would heal the residents from extended coughing once they prayed to him hence why they reffered to him as “Ayios Viharas”( Saint Cough).
Nowadays a service is held at the Ayios Vasilios temple on the 1st of January, the day of the celebrations in memory of the Saint.
