In June of 1997 the Ministers’ Council decided to expropriate the parental house of Evagoras Pallikaridis in Tsada.
The Council for the Historic Memory of the E.O.K.A. struggle 1955-59 undertook the renovation and conversion of the residence into a Museum.
The museum’s inauguration was performed on the 9 th of June 2001 by the Minister of Education and Culture, Mr. Ouranios Ioannidis.
The image of the traditional rural residence in the middle of the 20 th century -the era during which the hero lived -is presented in the first room of the house.
The life and the struggles of this adolescent hero of Cyprus’s freedom are presented in the second room. The moral and spiritual greatness of his personality are outlined through the photographs, the letters, and the texts of the hero & poet.
The objective is that the House – Museum of Evagoras Pallikaridis will also become a center of cultural activity.
For that purpose, an amphitheater that can accommodate up to 250 persons was constructed in the courtyard of the Museum.
The Administrative Committee of the House – Museum of Evagoras Pallikaridis, chaired by the President of Tsada’s Community Council and with the relatives and co-fighters of the hero also participating, has undertaken the operation of the Museum.
You can find more information on the life and the actions of the hero in the “Monuments of Heroes” web-page. Furthermore, you can call the Museum’s phone number 26642800.
