Detention camps were set up by the British colonial administration during the 1955-1959 EOKA National Liberation Struggle to house fighters held without trial. More than 3.000 fighters were arrested without trial and held at the Kokkinotrimithia Detention Camp, which close down on February 22, 1959 after the end of the struggle.
