THE HOSTERLY
Along the old motorway of Limassol-Paphos, precisely at the entry of the village, there are some residues from the “Hani of Kolossi”(Hosterly).
The householder of a big department of the “Hani”, Mr. Michalis Polycarpou reports that the “Hani” was a station of resting for the residents of the around villages like Vouni, Dora, Pachna, Omodos etc.
People were living during the night at the courtyard on off-hand “beds” while in the small rooms that existed next to the courtyard, the visitors were putting their animals. The next morning they were beginning their travel to Limassol.
A cafe was functioning there in order for the people to have their drinks. The householder of the “Hani” was selling barley and straw to the visitors in order to feed their animals.
At the duration of the vintage, “Hani” was receiving the greatest number of visitors.
In the internal courtyard, a piece of the paved courtyard is saved today consisting of plates from the river Kourris. “Hani” was important for that season and it had a special construction.
At the eastern side of the courtyard some arches of the “Hani” are saved as well as the entrance with an enormous semi-destroyed wooden outdoor.
The house of the current householder of “Hani” with his wife is found in this space. It is a residence built with bricks using the traditional architecture.
Nobody knows when the history of “Hani” begins…
