Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Arkansas USA
The futuristic Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is one of the most interesting new art museums in the world, having been opened on November 2, 2011 in the small town of Bentonville in north-west Arkansas.
A pet project of the Walmart heiress Alice Walton, it was designed by Bostonian architect Moshe Sadfie. The museum has brought much-needed art to the area and comprises eight pavilions located around two large ponds.
Its galleries are bursting with billions of dollars worth of collections, including works by Gilbert Stuart, Thomas Cole, Thomas Eakins, Marsden Hartley, Stuart Davis, Arthur Dove and it has quickly become one of the global hot spots for art lovers.
