Shanghai Museum of Glass China
Since May 2011, the ‘temple of glass’ has been open to visitors keen to view exceptional glass creations in a kaleidoscope of colours.
The Shanghai Museum of Glass comprises five departments: an introduction to glass, the history of glass in China and the West, glass in science, glass in astronomy and glass in the pharmaceutical industry.
Museum president and enthusiastic glass collector Zhang Lin transformed the old Glass Factory into a modern space for artistic creation. A private endeavour, it also receives financial support by the state for its educational programmes. The museum features 5.000 square metres of exhibition space, including permanent and temporary displays, shops, the library, the cafe and other attractions.
